Actually, I am not quite deaf, but hearing-impaired to the point my family has the loudest voices in the neighborhood from yelling to get my attention. When I shop, the whole store knows my cell-phone is buzzing before I do. This gets some glares. My teenage daughter and her friends know they could sit in the backseat of the car and say every horrible thing known to man, and I would just smile…The world is a quiet place, although I love music and was born with near perfect pitch and the ability to play music by ear. I sometimes wonder if there is a separate place in the brain for music. I hear the sounds and know which notes to play almost instinctively. More about this later.
